🙀 Did Disney do us dirty?
August 28, 2026 · — Laura Tsutsui
Happy Friday! If you have air travel in your future, look for PIT PAWS (Pups Alleviating Worry and Stress) in cute yellow bandanas at Pittsburgh International Airport. They're dog volunteers trained to help you stay cool, calm, and collected.
And did you know — PIT's also the first major airport with its own energy-independent microgrid. Host Megan Harris explains how other cities could emulate the Burgh in the latest for our national podcast, Your City Could Be Better.

What's CITY Talking About
PA Challenges Trump’s Limits on Mail-In Voting
Gov. Josh Shapiro joined a multistate lawsuit arguing new Trump-imposed U.S. Postal Service requirements violate the Voting Rights Act. The suit says states regulate and administer their own elections, and USPS doesn't have the authority to set rules for mail-in voting. [WESA]
How Troy Hill's Rec Center Got 'Mothballed'
The city earmarked $6 million in federal pandemic relief funds for the Cowley-Goettman Recreation Center, but only a tenth of that has been spent on it. The remaining funds were shuffled to “shovel-ready” projects that could be completed before the end of 2026 — the deadline for using relief funds. The O'Connor administration says the rec center remains a priority and the city has applied for grants to help cover remaining costs. [Public Source]
Dick’s Sporting Goods Pulls Major Brand
Dick's, headquartered in Pittsburgh, removed Good Good Golf items from its retail and online stores this week after backlash against an ad showing Good Good's co-founder shoving a woman to the ground to promote a new driver made in collaboration with Callaway. Callaway items continue to be sold at Dick’s. [Associated Press / City Cast Pittsburgh]
- Dick's has done this before. They scaled back and eventually removed all gun sales after the mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., in 2018. [Harvard Business School]
NFL Taps Disney & VS PINK For New Merch
Are you in the market for new Steelers gear? Two new NFL collabs just dropped:
- Victoria’s Secret’s PINK x NFL collection includes bedazzled boyfriend shorts, tanks and hoodies, and sweatpants I might actually consider wearing — god forbid my body is perceived by anyone, ever. [Victoria’s Secret]
- For the Disney and Champion collaboration, every team got paired with a classic Disney character. We got Pete — the gruff, 101-year-old cat antagonist to Mickey Mouse. Disney says, “Pete embodies the smash-mouth mentality Steelers fans embrace,” but we're not buying it. How about you? [Disney Parks Blog / City Cast Pittsburgh]
