What's CITY Talking About
What Happened To Station Square?
The plaza was once home to mega-clubs and boutique stores, but now it feels nearly abandoned. Post-Gazette dining critic Hal B. Klein ate at all seven remaining restaurants. On today's podcast, he shares what he learned about Station Square's heyday, decline, and current bright spots in the process. [🔒 Post-Gazette / City Cast Pittsburgh]
- Having worked in Station Square for four years, I can say the space leaves much to be desired. But perhaps the new owners and planned expansion of FNB Stadium will bring some new life 🤷 [Pittsburgh Magazine]
Pittsburgh Nonprofit Sues Trump
Jewish Family and Community Services is suing the Trump administration over new rules it says take away protections from abused and trafficked children. The nonprofit represents unaccompanied minors in immigration court, and seeks to block the deportations of six children. The federal contract that funds legal services for unaccompanied children expired last week. [Public Source / NPR]
Local Golf Courses Named Best in PA
Need a place to tee off? Golfweek recently ranked Oakmont No. 1 and Fox Chapel No. 4 in a roundup of the best private courses in Pennsylvania. Four of the state’s top public-access courses are within driving distance of Pittsburgh, including Omni Bedford Springs and Nemacolin. [Golfweek]
Want To Buy The Brentwood Demon House?
The home that inspired “The Demon of Brownsville Road” (based on paranormal events) is up for grabs. Author Bob Cranmer is asking $550,000 for the 1899 home, or $625,000 if you want to keep running it as a bed-and-breakfast with its contents. Allegedly, the spirits all left after a two-year-long exorcism. [TribLive]
