Rapid Buses To Squirrel Hill?
PRT has secured a $9 million grant to extend its University Line to the Homestead Grays Bridge, but still needs additional funds to fully complete the project. The bus line currently runs from Downtown to Oakland. [🔒 Post-Gazette]
PPS Official Resigns Over Assault Charges
According to court documents, the district's chief of staff was arrested in April and charged with simple assault and strangulation. He announced his resignation last week, saying the “media coverage and resulting public scrutiny have increasingly shifted attention away from the important work of the District.” His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September. Rivers Are Cleaner But Still Need Work
Pittsburgh’s waterways have come a long way in the past several decades thanks in part to federal laws that restricted water and mining pollution. But heavy rains and sewage overflow occasionally result in higher levels of E. coli bacteria. The county's Sanitary Authority has drafted a $3.6 billion plan to address the sewage runoff. [TribLive]
