Severe Storm and Tornado Risks Today
The National Weather Service has issued 259 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings so far this year — the fourth-highest combined total since we started collecting the data. Today, look for rain, hail, strong winds, and the possibility of tornadoes and flash flooding through at least 8 p.m. [🔒 Post-Gazette]

Former Congressman Tim Murphy Dies
Mental health advocate and anti-abortion lawmaker Tim Murphy died Saturday at age 73. He represented Western PA for one-and-a-half terms in the state Senate and 15 years in the U.S. House. [WESA]
Parkway East Might Reopen Early
Commuters rejoice! Parkway East was expected to be closed through Aug. 3 while the Commercial Street Bridge gets replaced, but PennDOT says it may reopen even sooner. Crews moved the new bridge into place Sunday and Monday. [KDKA]
