🩺 Dr. Robby bobblehead
May 22, 2026 · City Cast’s Mallory Falk, Natalia Aldana, and Natalie Rivera edited the newsletter this week.
It’s my birthday! I’m turning the big 30 today 🎂
There’s so much fun stuff happening this weekend. I hope I can make it to all of it!
👀 I’ve got my eyes on Riverlife’s Shore Thing opening on the North Side, a native plant sale in the Strip, the Neighborhood Flea night market on the South Side, and a special strawberry pretzel pop-up with Scone Ranger and Mandarine Matcha in Garfield.
Scroll for more things to do, like Pizza Olympics and Bloomfield Saturday Market ⬇️

What's CITY Talking About
PA Attorney General Challenges Abortion Ruling
Republican Attorney General Dave Sunday is appealing a court ruling that recognized reproductive autonomy as a constitutionally-protected right and overturned a decades-old ban on using Medicaid to pay for abortions. In April, the Commonwealth Court ruled that the prohibition was sex-based discrimination; Sunday is appealing to the state Supreme Court. [Pennsylvania Capital-Star]
Fetterman’s Chief of Staff Resigns
Cabelle St. John is U.S. Sen. John Fetterman’s third chief of staff to leave since 2023. Her departure is the latest in a string of staff retention problems for the PA Democrat as he faces scrutiny over his health struggles and shifting political positions. [Axios / City Cast Pittsburgh]
City Considers New Approach To Inclusionary Zoning
A new iteration of Pittsburgh’s contentious inclusionary zoning policy is headed back to the City Planning Commission. Instead of requiring developers to create affordable housing units in buildings over a certain size, the program rewards them with benefits if they set aside affordable units — or allows them to opt-out and pay into a (still-to-be-created) housing fund instead. Duolingo Building Goes Up for Sale
The language-learning company is moving out of its East Liberty headquarters and into Liberty East, the mixed-use tower just a few blocks away that's anchored by Whole Foods. That leaves the roughly 77,000-square-foot property up for sale or lease. Duolingo hopes the building can continue to house its Mexican restaurant, Duo’s Taqueria. [TribLive]
Sandcastle Water Park Opens This Weekend
The West Homestead waterpark is open this Saturday through September 7. Veterans and active duty military can get free entry for Memorial Day Weekend. Educators get free admission all throughout June. Check out more upcoming deals and events. [TribLive]
