Hi yinz 👋
We’re interviewing Mayor Corey O’Connor this week. What should we ask him?

What's CITY Talking About

100+ Street Performers Will Show Off at Draft
Stiltwalkers, musical groups, DJs, and more entertainers will set up at 10 different locations during the three-day event. Expect to see entertainment throughout the North Shore, Point State Park, and the Downtown business district, plus more festivities like vendor markets and block parties. Could Downtown Get More Investment?
The city’s Urban Redevelopment Authority approved a plan that would direct a portion of tax revenue from new developments in Downtown, the Strip District, and the North Shore to go toward Downtown transit projects. The plan still needs approval from our taxing bodies (City Council, Allegheny County Council, and Pittsburgh Public Schools Board) and Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s board.
- More Downtown news: The Pittsburgh Downtown Neighbors Alliance parted ways with its longtime leader and is going on hiatus while its board “determines the best path forward.” Some board members say the nonprofit could shut down. [Public Source]
School Closure Talks Continue
Two city councilors are working with the advocacy group 412 Justice to host public feedback sessions on potential school closures. The town halls will take place virtually on April 14, 21, and 28. The organizers plan to present their findings to the Pittsburgh Public Schools board in May, when it’s expected to take another vote on a closure plan. [WESA]
- School closure talks began nearly two years ago, but proposals failed to get majority support from the board and community members. Catch up on the saga. [City Cast Pittsburgh]

Did yinz hear? The big quack is coming back!
The world’s largest rubber duck — measuring 61 feet tall and 64 feet wide — is arriving in Green Tree during the NFL Draft. A similar giant duck became a local phenomenon in 2013, and more than 1 million people gathered at Point State Park to see it float on the river.
