Happy Friday, neighbor 🎉
I am so excited for this: Handmade Arcade — the massive craft market at the Convention Center every winter — is expanding to offer a spring shopping event.
Check out local and national makers at the Modern Craft Market, March 27-29.

What's CITY Talking About

First Look at New Hill District Concert Venue
Citizens Live at the Wylie is on track to open this fall, and promoters just released a teaser video with renderings of the space. The 4,000-capacity venue includes a standing pit and balcony with seating, a rooftop lounge with views of Downtown, and a vinyl room and listening bar. Hill District history is woven throughout the space with elements like a Charles “Teenie” Harris photo gallery and a Crawford Grill-inspired mirrored piano. [Citizens Live / 📝 City Cast Pittsburgh]
Police Radio Disrupted With More Hateful Messages
Pittsburgh police are increasing patrols around religious institutions after more hateful messages were broadcast over a public safety radio channel this week. Messages included Nazi propaganda, racist slurs, references to the war in Iran, praise of the 2018 mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue, and threats against Mayor Corey O’Connor. County officials and the FCC are investigating. [WESA / 🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

Oliver Bath House Reopens Saturday
Pittsburgh's only indoor public pool is set to reopen this weekend after years of renovations. Built in 1915, the Tudor Revival/Collegiate Gothic style bath house has been recognized as a historic landmark. A daily pass costs $5 for swimmers 16 and up. [TribLive]
Burghers Brewing To Expand on South Side
The taproom and burger joint is moving into the former Sly Fox Brewing spot at The Highline — a 5,800-square-foot warehouse space. Burghers Brewing currently has a tiny location on E. Carson Street, which it plans to convert into a sourdough pizza restaurant. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh / Pittsburgh Magazine]
Parkway East To Close for Nearly a Month
Interstate 376 will shut down for 25 days this summer as PennDOT replaces the Commercial Street Bridge over Nine Mile Run. Prepare for congestion in July and August and keep these detours in mind to avoid gridlock. [Axios Pittsburgh]

Meet the People Who Made America
From Pittsburgh steel to New York skyscrapers, pioneering photographer Lewis Hine used his camera to reveal the human stories behind America’s industrial rise. His striking images of immigrants, child laborers, and working-class communities in the early 20th century captured the realities of a rapidly changing nation and transformed photography into a powerful tool for change.

🎙️ ICYMI: City Cast has a new podcast called “Your City Could Be Better” — because it could be! Every week, our CEO David Plotz chats with one of our 13 City Cast teams about things cities are trying, what’s working (and what isn’t), and how the whole country can learn from their experience.
This week’s episode takes us to Salt Lake, where a national think tank is attempting to institutionalize unhoused people, regardless of what locals think. Your City Could Be Better covers how Utah is responding.
🎧 Catch up: Your City Could Be Better has also featured conversations on the anti-ICE movement in the Twin Cities, backlash against data centers in Madison, and plans to bring more storefronts to Downtown Pittsburgh.
