Pittsburgh Tackles Abandoned Boats
Removing abandoned boats from our rivers can be complicated and costly, but a newly-enacted state law is streamlining the process by giving local municipalities and law enforcement power to remove vessels. There are currently about 25 neglected boats within a few miles of the Point. [Post-Gazette]
Air Pollution Linked To Local Deaths
A new study found that air pollution in the Pittsburgh region was linked to up to 3,500 deaths in 2019 — even when air quality was considered “safe” by regulators. Pollution also led to adverse birth outcomes, including premature and low-weight births. [Allegheny Front]

QMNTY Grows on the North Side
The new QMNTY Pantry & Café offers free meals, groceries, and more services to the queer community. The space is run by Proud Haven and TransYOUniting, who also operate a community center on the same street, along with a thrift store that provides free clothing, hygiene products, and shelf-stable goods.
