🍺 Titty sphinx beer
February 25, 2026 · — Francesca Dabecco
Who’s thirsty? An iconic Pittsburgh landmark now has its own beer — and you might want to snag a can just for the art!

Dancing Gnome made a brew in honor of the “titty sphinx" in Allegheny Cemetery, one the largest and oldest burial grounds in the city.
Crack open a cold one at the Sharpsburg brewery, then go on an adventure to find the pair of statues guarding the cemetery's famous Egyptian Revival tomb.

What's CITY Talking About
PA's 42nd District Stays Blue
Democrat Jennifer Mazzocco beat out Republican Joseph Leckenby in the special election for state House. The South Hills district seat was long held by Democrat Dan Miller, who stepped down to serve on the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas. Some of Mazzocco’s legislative priorities include affordable housing and raising the minimum wage. [WESA]
McCandless Won’t Cooperate With ICE
The North Hills suburb voted to bar its police from working with ICE and Customs and Border Protection, joining other Pittsburgh-area communities like Coraopolis and Oakmont. The vote comes on the heels of another high-profile arrest. Bruno Guedes da Silva, a Sewickley resident whose six-year-old daughter is receiving cancer treatment in Pittsburgh, was detained by federal agents on Sunday. [WESA]
- Allegheny County Council heard public feedback Tuesday evening on a bill that could prohibit elected officials and county employees from working with federal immigration agents unless ordered to do so by a federal judge. If passed, County Executive Sara Innamorato says she’ll sign the legislation.

PRT Plans Transit Improvement Projects
Pittsburgh Regional Transit is expected to spend about $85 million on capital projects over the next two years, including upgrades to the Mt. Lebanon Transit Tunnel, the Centre Avenue Bridge on the East Busway, and the Panhandle Bridge that carries light rail vehicles across the Monongahela River. PRT originally had more projects planned but ended up using capital funds to cover operating expenses after state lawmakers refused to increase transit spending.
- Look to the future: PRT has about $2 billion worth of projects needed to keep the transit system in a “state of good repair,” but the majority of them aren’t funded. [🔒 Post-Gazette / 🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

The Casino Actually Has Good Food?
Rivers Casino is usually a destination for slots, table games, and events, but it also has a variety of dining options — all open later than the average Pittsburgh restaurant. Post-Gazette dining critic Hal B. Klein tried dishes at every restaurant, from veal chops to Italian wedding soup, and he’s sharing which spots are worth the gamble.
