🚧 Oakland’s ‘danger zone’
February 11, 2026 · — Francesca Dabecco

Valentine's Day is this weekend! And while we love to celebrate love, we can’t resist sharing some cautionary tales 🫣
On today’s City Cast Pittsburgh podcast, we share YOUR most horrific dating stories — including an ill-fated date that began and ended in a Sheetz parking lot.

What's CITY Talking About
Garrity Says She’d Work With Trump on PA Elections
Gubernatorial candidate and Republican Stacey Garrity says she’d cooperate with the Trump administration in running state elections. Trump recently called for Republicans to “take over the voting” in more than a dozen places and “nationalize” elections, which goes against the U.S. Constitution. [WITF]
Casa San José Goes Virtual
Because of increased ICE presence in the area, the nonprofit serving Pittsburgh’s Latino community has temporarily moved all of its operations to a virtual setting. Executive director Monica Ruiz says ICE is “detaining anyone” with the policy of “detain now, ask questions later."
- Residents with no criminal records are being detained — like Maklim Gomez Escalante of Brentwood, an asylum seeker with a legal work permit. His wife was briefly unable to locate him but eventually learned he'd been hospitalized with possible stroke-like symptoms and was reportedly handcuffed to the hospital bed. He’s now back at an ICE detention center in Clearfield County. [TribLive]

Oakland Corridor Gets Safety Upgrades
After multiple pedestrian deaths along Terrace Street, the “danger zone” has seen several safety improvements including curb extensions, a pedestrian safety island, and a climbing bicycle lane. The project is part of Pittsburgh's Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic deaths. [Public Source / 🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

The game was recently moved to Highmark Stadium because of an expected high ticket demand. Snag yours now! [Riverhounds]

Where Is It?

Let’s play a game! Where can you find this plaque of home plate for Three Rivers Stadium? (I’m looking for the name of the street!)
💥🏟️ Today marks 25 years since the stadium was imploded to make way for PNC Park and Heinz Field (now Acrisure Stadium). People gathered on riverbanks and hillsides to watch the collapse of this landmark, which had been home to the Steelers and Pirates for three decades.

Pull up a seat and enjoy some sips at Trace Echo in Uptown — a daytime coffee shop operated by Ghost Coffee Collab and evening brewery lead by the team at Trace Brewing. Whether you want a daytime caffeine boost or a brew after work, this is your spot.
Keep an eye on their Instagram for events, like Get Dahn Uptown jazz night every second and fourth Thursday.
Tip: I can’t wait to try Ghost Coffee Collab’s special strawberry latte. It’s only available in February!
