Shapiro Seeks A Second Term

Gov. Josh Shapiro kicked off his long-expected reelection campaign yesterday with a rally just outside of Pittsburgh. Shapiro emphasized his administration’s accomplishments — like investment in law enforcement, free breakfast for public school students, and tax cuts for seniors, families, and small businesses. Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, who grew up in McKeesport, will seek reelection alongside Shapiro.

  • Shapiro said his work has “only just begun,” and that he’s focused on making housing more affordable, fighting for lower energy costs, and raising the state's minimum wage.
  • He's expected to face State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, who received an endorsement from the PA Republican Party. Sen. Doug Mastriano announced earlier this week that he won’t run for governor again. [📝 City Cast Pittsburgh / Philadelphia Inquirer]
