What's CITY Talking About

Penn Ave Bike Lane Project Moves Ahead

After reaching a compromise with the Strip District Business Association, the city can move forward with its Penn Avenue rightsizing project. Instead of creating a protected bike lane — separated from cars by a parking barrier — it'll add an unprotected lane alongside regular traffic. [WTAE]

  • Catch up on all the drama over the project and what it says about the future of the Strip. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

City To Buy North Shore Riverfront Park

Pittsburgh agreed to buy the park from the Sports & Exhibition Authority for $1, so officials can tow boats illegally tied along the shore. Lots of watercraft have been parked or abandoned by the riverwalk, but the SEA lacked the authority to remove them. [KDKA]

Local Health Care Giants Expand

Allegheny Health Network is adding two Heritage Valley Health System hospitals in Sewickley and Beaver County to its offerings. Meanwhile, rival UPMC is poised to take over Trinity Health System, which has several hospitals, urgent care centers, and other facilities in eastern Ohio. [TribLive]
