September 25, 2025 · — Francesca Dabecco

Shapiro Considers Leaving Regional Power Grid
Gov. Josh Shapiro says that PJM, the nation’s largest power grid operator, needs to make changes so that electricity bills don’t keep rising and the state can move more quickly on energy-producing projects. The Best Sports Bars for Game Day

Pittsburghers love our professional sports teams, but you don't have to shell out hundreds of dollars and brave the traffic (and cold!) to catch a game at Acrisure Stadium or PPG Paints Arena. We rounded up some of our favorite spots to root for the black and gold, as well as a few fan watch parties for other teams around the region.

Southern Tier
📍 North Shore
Craft beer is the focus, but don’t skimp on the food — we love their huge salads and bowls, and the veggie ciabatta handheld is truly divine. They also host special events like their Irish Brunch and pop-up market for the Steelers away game in Ireland on Sept. 28.
City Works
📍 Downtown
Known for its 90 craft beers, spacious footprint, and large TVs, City Works is great for a game anytime, butttt we love that they serve Sunday brunch until 3 p.m. — the perfect option for a day game.
William Penn Tavern
📍 Lawrenceville
This was a Shadyside staple before taking over the former Franktuary spot in Lawrenceville. Old fans and newcomers alike will feel right at home with American pub fare (including $1 wings) and a friendly atmosphere.
Bottlerocket
📍 Allentown
This darling of the Pittsburgh comedy scene also offers a unique venue for games. Think peak, retro Yinzer — wood paneling, a cardboard cutout of Terry Bradshaw, and a popcorn machine in the corner. The space previously served as a social club for St. George's Church, and today offers Steelers Bingo so you can play along with what happens on the field.
