Juneteenth Organizers Sue City, Mayor

William "B" Marshall and wife Margo allege that Mayor Ed Gainey and the city attempted to take over the Western Pennsylvania Juneteenth Celebration, which the Marshalls have hosted for 12 years. The lawsuit claims a violation of civil rights, but the mayor’s office denies these allegations. [WTAE]

City Council Advances Tiny House Bill

Council is showing support for a measure that would allow tiny home communities to be built for unhoused residents. Locations have not been decided, and a public review process would happen before anything is built. A final vote on the bill is expected next week. [TribLive]

Students Join Pittsburgh Public Schools Board

A senior at Obama Academy 6-12 and a junior at Allderdice High School were selected to be the district’s first student board representatives. They will serve as nonvoting members but will provide insight into the student experience. [WESA]
