The Cobra Strikes Cooperstown

Legendary Pirates outfielder Dave Parker was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame over the weekend, just a month after he died of complications from Parkinson’s disease. At the induction ceremony, his son read a speech and poem Parker had been writing before he died. [KDKA News]

Anti-Mosquito Spray Happening Wednesday

The Allegheny County Health Department plans to spray low-risk pesticides in seven neighborhoods after mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile Virus. Spraying will happen between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on July 30 in Point Breeze, Regent Square, Edgewood, Wilkinsburg, East Hills, Homewood, and Highland Park. [WPXI]

Steel City Stars Revealed

The Pittsburgh Walk of Fame announced its ten inaugural inductees, including icons like Fred Rogers, Roberto Clemente, and Michael Keaton — who's expected to attend the induction ceremony on Oct. 20. Each honoree will have their own bronze star along the sidewalk at The Terminal in the Strip District. [Pittsburgh Magazine]

In Desperate Need of a Tune-Up

City Council approved an annual report that will track the condition and maintenance of the city’s vehicle fleet and help taxpayers understand the costs. Leaders say the report will also help guide much needed future investment. The city has a $6 million budget to maintain aging vehicles like ambulances and snow plows this year, but it needs an estimated $20 million. [TribLIVE]
