➡️ Lawmakers Put PA at Center of ‘AI Revolution’

President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator Dave McCormick promised more than $90 billion in private sector investments for PA to become “a leading hub for energy, artificial intelligence, and innovation" during yesterday's summit at CMU. The projects include building data centers, upgrading power plants, and expanding natural gas pipelines. Some had already been in progress before the summit. [90.5 WESA / Associated Press]

  • 📣 CMU students and environmental activists protested Trump’s visit, calling out his administration’s attacks on higher education, cuts to research funding, treatment of international students, and environmental policy rollbacks. [PublicSource]

⚖️ Shapiro Sues Trump Admin for Funding Freeze

Pennsylvania joined 24 states, along with DC, to sue the Trump administration for freezing education funds that were slated for afterschool programming, teacher training, and ESL services. PA agencies were supposed to receive $230 million on July 1. If the money isn’t restored, Allegheny County could lose more than $7.5 million. [90.5 WESA]

🌟 ‘The Pitt’ Gets 13 Emmy Nominations

HBO Max’s Pittsburgh-based medical drama is up for awards for best drama, lead actor, supporting actress, and writing and directing. Production is underway for season two, which is expected to premiere in January. [New York Times]
