How would you describe Pittsburgh's brand? If you were trying to convince someone to invest in our city — say, move their company here or build something new — how would you make the sale? 💡

Today on the City Cast Pittsburgh podcast, we're talking to the head of one of our biggest economic groups about our city's evolving brand and her best marketing pitch for Pittsburgh.

What's CITY Talking About?

🔋 Trump in Town for AI, Energy Summit Today

President Donald Trump and Republican U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick are expected to announce $70 billion in AI and energy investments for the state at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit on CMU’s campus. McCormick is hosting the inaugural summit, and other officials including Gov. Josh Shapiro and U.S. Senator John Fetterman plan to attend. [Axios Pittsburgh]

  • 📝 A group of CMU staff and students delivered a letter to school leadership condemning Trump’s visit, citing the administration’s cuts to scientific research, unjust removal of student visas, and detention of both U.S. citizens and non-citizens without due process. [TribLive]
  • 🌎 One CMU professor is worried the environmental impacts of AI will be overlooked at the summit. [90.5 WESA]
  • 🪧 Local organizations are hosting protest rallies, block parties, and marches in Oakland today. [90.5 WESA]

🍅 Kraft Heinz Prepares for a Breakup

A decade after the brands merged — a move that's now considered a "strategic blunder" — Kraft Heinz is considering breaking itself up and making a portion of its business into a new entity, valued at up to $20 billion. Heinz is co-headquartered in Pittsburgh alongside the Kraft office in Chicago. [TribLive]

📣 PIT Service Workers Want to Unionize

A group of service workers are asking the Allegheny County Airport Authority to help them unionize for better benefits and an “airport-wide wage standard.” These workers — who perform tasks like transporting wheelchair users — are employed by a private company and contracted by PIT. Find this gallery of pups at Allegheny City Brewing in East Allegheny (or Deutschtown). The recently-expanded brewery has regular live music nights, a lineup of some of the best food trucks (catch me there on Mun's Pizza Mondays), and lots of outdoor space for your four-legged friends.

🎶 ACB will be a hot spot for the Northside Music Festival this Friday-Sunday.

Check out other dog-friendly breweries like Trace Brewing in Bloomfield and Grist House in Millvale — plus, new spots designed especially for puppy people: The Dog Penn in the Strip District and Hound Haus in East Liberty.

Your Ticket, Clayton's Future

Clayton, the historic home of Henry Clay Frick, is the last fully preserved Gilded Age mansion in Pittsburgh. Trace the mansion’s evolution from a family home to a public museum on The Frick Pittsburgh’s new Preservation Tour! Tickets are a donation and go directly to raising funds for the conservation of Clayton.

😆 Your LOL for the day: Apparently someone painted their own DIY center line on Rialto Street in Troy Hill — one of the biggest slopes in Pittsburgh. Then it was quickly removed by the city.

💬 My favorite comment on reddit: “Rialto lore is so steeped.”

🐽 Get to know why it was once called “Pig Hill”, and take a trip to these must-visit spots on the hilltop.
