🔍 The tiniest Pittsburgh landmark
July 14, 2025 · — Francesca Dabecco

One thing about me is… I will go to the Science Center and spend the WHOLE time admiring the tiny historical Pittsburgh landmarks in the Miniature Railroad & Village. I mean, how cute is that pocket-sized Gus and YiaYia’s ice ball cart?
Every year, they add a new gem to the display — and it’s time to weigh in! Should it be Bethel Township High School, Garards Fort Post Office, or Andrew Bayne Memorial Library?

What's CITY Talking About?

🏟️ Concession Upgrades for Acrisure Stadium
Fans will have a more convenient way to get their nachos and beer with the addition of two walk-in marketplaces and self-order stands. The $3.5 million project is just one of many improvements on the North Shore and in Downtown ahead of the NFL Draft next spring. [TribLive / 🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
🏡 Casa San José To Open New Community Center
The URA voted to sell Casa San José a vacant building in Beechview for $1, plus the costs of construction. The 6,000 square ft. property on Broadway Avenue will allow the nonprofit to expand services like medical care, ESL classes, sewing and cooking workshops, and after-school programs for Pittsburgh’s Latino and immigrant communities. - ☎️ Casa San José also operates an emergency hotline for people witnessing or experiencing an ICE detention. [Casa San José]

🪰 Invasive Spotted Lanternflies Are Back
These pesty insects can damage trees, vineyards, and other plants. If you see one, squash it! Look out for grey-ish brown egg masses (most commonly near trees), and stop new nymphs from hatching by scraping the eggs into a plastic bag filled with hand sanitizer. - 📉 It’s not all bad news! Allegheny County’s spotted lanternfly sightings dropped last year 🤞 Let's hope we keep trending in the right direction. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
