🔥 Canadian Wildfires Bring Smoke to Pgh

Wildfire smoke is moving through the region, and the National Weather Service has issued a "hazardous weather outlook” starting today. The air quality isn’t expected to be as bad as it was during fires in 2023, and it’ll likely clear out with some rain toward the end of the week. [90.5 WESA]

🌊 City Announces Pool Openings

Sixteen CitiParks Pools will open June 16: Ream, Ammon, Banksville, Bloomfield, Highland Park, Jack Stack, Magee, Mc Bride, Moore, Ormsby, Phillips, Riverview, Schenley, Sue Murray, West Penn, and Westwood. Homewood and Sheraden are closed for renovations. The city has had trouble recruiting lifeguards in recent years but was able to hire 160 for this summer. [City of Pittsburgh]

🚨 Pittsburgh Mills Gets More Citations

The Frazer mall owner got a new wave of citations for numerous potholes, knee-high grass, and inoperable doors. Namdar Realty Group’s alleged negligence of the property has led to criminal charges and a ton of complaints from residents online. [TribLive]

📣 Juneteenth Organizer Takes City to Court

William “B” Marshall filed a petition in the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court over a delay in permits for the festival, which is just three weeks away. Marshall filed the permit application back in February; he's hosted Juneteenth events for more than a decade. [WPXI]
