🗳️ Meet mayoral candidate Tony Moreno
May 5, 2025 · — Francesca Dabecco
Welcome to a new week, neighbor 👋 I hope yinz are faring well after all of the mess that the storm left last week. Crews are still working to restore power across the region 💡 And if you still don’t have service, check out these resources from our friends at Axios Pittsburgh.
With downed trees and scattered debris, our green spaces could use a little extra love, too. Keep these local groups in mind 🌳

What's CITY Talking About?

📣 Pittsburgh Marches for May Day
Immigrants, union members, labor organizations, and community allies marked International Workers Day (or May Day) with rallies Downtown on Thursday and Saturday. Marchers joined cities nationwide to advocate for justice, equality, and worker protections. [Union Progress / Axios]
🛑 Weeknight Closures on Parkway East
Interstate 376 will be closed Mondays through Thursdays in May, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., at the Birmingham Bridge — as well as Friday, May 9 through noon Saturday. Crews are working on the Oakland off-ramp and detouring all outbound traffic. [TribLIVE]
🏒 Sully Signs With the Rangers
The New York Rangers hired Mike Sullivan as coach, less than a week after he left his post with the Penguins. He signed a five-year contract that’ll make him the highest paid coach in NHL history. Sullivan was an assistant coach with the Rangers in 2009-2010 and 2012-2013. [ESPN / NHL]
☀️ More Solar Energy Coming To PIT
Flyers won’t have to worry about power outages because Pittsburgh International Airport is more than doubling the amount of solar power produced on site — adding 11,216 panels to the 10,000 already installed at a microgrid on top of a former landfill. [90.5 WESA]
