😥 Fiori’s Condemned After Storm
Strong wind from Tuesday’s storm ripped the roof off the beloved South Hills pizzeria — making it unsafe for service. Both Mayor Ed Gainey and Gov. Josh Shapiro visited to survey the aftermath. Construction crews are putting on a temporary roof, and the family hopes to reopen as quickly as possible. [KDKA]

🚎 Locals Call For More Transit Funding
Riders gave emotional testimonies at a public hearing with Pittsburgh Regional Transit this week — speaking out against potential service cuts and bus fare increases if the transit agency can’t get more state funding. Attendees raised concerns about cuts to late-night rides; the loss of independence for people who use paratransit services; and repercussions for students who rely on public transit. [NEXTpittsburgh]
- 🏛️ What are lawmakers saying? Democratic Sen. Jay Costa wants to create a multi-county regional transit system. And Democrats in the House and Senate support a tax on ride-share programs or an increase on car rental fees to create more revenue. PA’s House Republican leader says transit agencies in Philly and Pittsburgh should consider privatizing. [KDKA / 90.5 WESA]
