🚲 A new trail on an old bridge

April 15, 2025 · — Francesca Dabecco

Story time! At a dinner among old friends and new acquaintances, one person was bold enough to blurt out: “There’s nothing really special about Pittsburgh.”

The whole table went silent, and my pals looked at me, knowing that I’d take the remark personally and proudly defend my city.

NOTHING SPECIAL?! 😡 You can imagine my outrage. The whole exchange reminded me that there are some types of people who just ain’t gonna make it in the Burgh — and we’re pretty sure we know who they are!

The many faces of late Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller are pictured outside of ID Labs, Miller’s former recording studio in Etna. The tribute mural was painted by artist Gustavo Zermeño Jr., and if you look at it up close, you can spot designs that reference iconic moments throughout his career.

Psst! You can spot another mural honoring Mac Miller in Larimer — about three miles down the road from the Frick Park playground he referenced in his song “Blue Slide Park.”
