Have yinz ever been to the Museum Lab in Allegheny Center on the North Side? I recently went to a wedding there and ✨ WOW ✨

This Romanesque Revival-style building was once the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny — the first Carnegie library to be commissioned in the U.S. in 1886.

The Children’s Museum (right next door) renovated the building to reveal its original 1890 archways, stately columns, and quilt-inspired mosaic floors. New art, like the colorful fixture in the photo above, is a stunning, modern juxtaposition to the “beautiful ruin.”

Today, the building serves as an event venue, as well as a place where kids 10+ can experience art, tech, and more creative opportunities.
