🎓 Pitt Pauses PhD Admissions
The University of Pittsburgh has stopped admitting new PhD students while it tries to figure out how cuts to federal research funding could affect the school. The Trump administration wants to dramatically slash funding from the National Institutes of Health, but a judge temporarily blocked the policy. [WESA]
🏠 Allegheny County To Help Resettle Refugees
The Trump administration froze federal funding for refugee aid in January, and last week, County Executive Sara Innamorato announced that the county will help fill in the gaps by covering about a third of the nearly $672,000 needed by local organizations. Innamorato also said she’ll work with local philanthropic groups to cover the rest. [Allegheny County]
