What's CITY Talking About?

✈️ Resettlement Orgs Scramble After Federal Cuts
Pittsburgh groups like JFCS and Hello Neighbor are struggling to support around 575 refugees who recently arrived in the region after President Trump suspended their grant funding. The federal government typically provides support for refugees for 90 days after arrival. [90.5 WESA]
- 📣 Emergency donations are needed by both JFCS and Hello Neighbor.
- 💔 How can I help neighbors in need right now? City Cast Pittsburgh contributor Natalie Bencivenga joins us on today’s podcast to share orgs you should know about and ways you can get involved. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

🏘️ ‘Deplorable’ Subsidized Housing in Pittsburgh
City officials are struggling to address serious safety issues in privately owned, publicly subsidized housing complexes without displacing tenants. NB Affordable, a New Jersey-based company, owns about 1,300 units in Homewood, the Hill District, West Mifflin, and Rankin; they’ve been accused of having failing water and heat systems, rodent and insect infestations, and mold growth. 🛍️ New Shops Coming To Ross Park Mall
The shopping center is getting a bunch of new stores and restaurants this year: Aritzia, Carhartt, Capital One 360 Café, Unsubscribed, Plaza Azteca, Garage, Tecovas, State & Liberty, and Allen Edmonds. [Pittsburgh Magazine]
