What's CITY Talking About?

⚖️ What’s Happening at Our Juvenile Detention Center?
It’s been six months since the Highland Detention at Shuman Center reopened, under a new name and new private nonprofit management. Shuman was shut down in 2021 for “gross incompetence, negligence and misconduct.” We’re talking to its leader about how it’s going so far, the reporting requirements since they reopened, and why Adelphoi wanted to be involved with Shuman in the first place. 🕳️ Infamous Potholes at Pittsburgh Mills
A Facebook page chronicling infrastructure frustrations at Pittsburgh Mills mall, called “Pittsburgh Mills Mess,” is gaining traction among Frazer residents. The roads are so bad that township officials filed a $4.5 million lawsuit against the owners of the mall back in September. “Driving there is like a real-life Mario Kart,” one Reddit user posted. - The mall opened almost 20 years ago and is 75% empty. Is it doomed like Century III? [City Cast Pittsburgh]
🎨 Warhol Museum Gets New Director
Mario R. Rossero, executive director of the National Art Education Association, is coming home to Pittsburgh to be the new director of The Warhol and vice president of Carnegie Museums. Rossero says he’s excited to “share lessons learned from a national lens.”
- More arts news: Marya Sea Kaminski, artistic director of Pittsburgh Public Theater, is leaving after seven years. She was the first woman to lead the company. [Pittsburgh Magazine]
