⚖️ Nippon, US Steel File Federal Lawsuits

The steel companies filed a lawsuit in D.C.’s U.S. Court of Appeals, alleging that Biden’s move to block the $15 billion sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon Steel was a political decision and violated the companies’ rights to due process. They filed a second suit in the U.S. District Court in Western Pennsylvania, accusing rival steelmaker Cleveland-Cliffs and the head of the United Steelworkers union of “engaging in a coordinated series of anticompetitive and racketeering activities” to stop the deal.
