🎂 Happy birthday, Pittsburgh!
November 25, 2024 · — Francesca Dabecco
It’s Pittsburgh’s 266th birthday! Well, kind of 🎂
Mike Burke, assistant director at the Fort Pitt Museum, is on today’s City Cast Pittsburgh podcast to explain how and why our city was founded, what the region was like at the time, and why so many people get our birthday wrong 🎧

And long before the city was created, these mountains and valleys were the ancestral land of Indigenous peoples.

What's CITY Talking About?

🐈⬛ City’s Spay & Neuter Program To Return
City Council gave preliminary approval to restart Pittsburgh’s free spay and neuter program — with some changes. Registered trappers of “community cats” will get 30 vouchers annually; households will get two. The city scaled back the initiative earlier this year after discovering residents outside of the city used fake addresses to take advantage of the program. [90.5 WESA]

The Terminal in the Strip District will soon have a star-studded, Hollywood-inspired Walk of Fame honoring Pittsburgh legends. Starting in January, you can nominate a Western Pennsylvania honoree. [Pittsburgh Walk of Fame]
🎭 Bricolage Finds A Stage in Wilkinsburg
The production company known for its immersive theater moved from Downtown to a new artist hub inside the former Johnston Elementary School building. The nonprofit Community Forge is renovating the space, which will eventually host workshops, events, and performances. [NEXTpittsburgh]
