What's CITY Talking About?

⚾ Billboards Tell Nutting To Sell the Buccos
Signs are popping up across the city for the local campaign “Our Team Not His,” as fans hope to get Bob Nutting to sell the Pirates before their PNC Park lease expires in 2030. The billboards are paid for by Zachary King, a Pittsburgher living in NYC, who says losing seasons and disinvestment has led to “30 years of nonsense.” [Next Generation Newsroom]
💸 County Council Doesn’t Want To Raise Taxes
County Executive Sara Innamorato has been making her case for a tax increase, but 10 of 15 council members say they don’t agree, even as our county manager warns their inaction could yield a “catastrophic” elimination of entire departments. [90.5 WESA]

🗳️ Casey, McCormick Race Goes to a Recount
AP called our U.S. Senate race for Republican Dave McCormick last week, who was narrowly ahead of incumbent Democrat Bob Casey, but results were close enough to trigger a legally-required statewide recount — which could cost us another $1 million. We should have an official winner by Nov. 27. [Associated Press / TribLive]

🥃 Speer’s Steakhouse
Pull up a plush chair in sleek black-and-white surroundings at Speer’s, the latest offering from the same ownership group behind Kaufman Tavern in Zelienople and Breakneck Tavern in Mars. Sit at the bar for happy hour or dine by the wine caves on perfectly marbled steaks and fresh seafood, plus upscale surprises like caviar, oyster, and bacon tastings.
🧅 IstanBloom
There’s a new Mediterranean spot on Penn Avenue in Bloomfield where you can nosh on cold apps like hummus, baba ganoush, and grape leaves; hot apps like falafel; and entree kebabs with lamb, chicken, and veggies. We loved the haydari (thick homemade yogurt with chopped walnuts, garlic, dill, and mint) and piyez (white beans, red pepper, parsley, red onion, tomatoes, olive oil, and vinegar).
🫚 Jackworth x Maggie’s Farm
Strip District-based Maggie’s Farm Rum and Larimer’s Jackworth Ginger Beer released a limited-edition “fireside mule” canned cocktail perfect for holiday gatherings. Cozy up with spices like vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, and clove combined with a refreshing ginger beer.
