⚖️ Court Halts Charleroi Glass Plant Closure

A federal district court temporarily stopped the closure of the Anchor Hocking glass factory, after the company announced it would move operations to Ohio — putting 300 jobs at risk. Pennsylvania’s attorney general said a closure would have a “permanent impact on the Charleroi community and its surrounding neighborhoods, which depend on the plant for employment.” A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12. 🎒 Some PPS Populations Could Increase

Under the Pittsburgh district’s closure proposal, many schools could see their population double or even triple. On average, district schools were at about 50% capacity, according to a PPS utilization report. If the proposal is approved by school board members, consolidated K-12 schools would be about 70% full.
