What's CITY Talking About?

🗳️ What To Know & Expect for Election Day
- The City Cast Pittsburgh team got an inside look at the Election Warehouse on the North Side, where workers will be counting mail-in ballots and certifying election returns. Allegheny County should have preliminary results as soon as midnight tomorrow, but the rest of PA may lag because every county operates differently. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
- The county must certify results by Nov. 25, and the state has to certify everything by Dec. 11. There’s a five-day period when election results can be challenged, a likely scenario if the election is close. [SpotlightPA]

💸 Republicans Outspend Dems on PA Ads
The PAC supporting Republican candidate Dave Sunday for Attorney General spent $13 million to run TV ads through Election Day; his Democratic opponent Eugene DePasquale spent $3.1 million. Why so much? It’s a powerful office. The AG defends Pennsylvania’s laws and election results, deals with multistate legal battles (like lawsuits focused on consumer protections or data breaches), and prosecutes all sorts of high-profile crimes, like political corruption. 👻 Elon Musk Ghosts His PA Court Hearing
The controversial billionaire didn’t show up to his hearing with District Attorney Larry Krasner last week, and the case was moved to federal court. Krasner alleges that Musk’s ploy to give $1 million a day to Pennsylvanians who sign his PAC’s petition breaks federal election law. [Associated Press / NPR]

🚗 CCAC Starts Electric Vehicle Tech Program

The groundbreaking queer filmmaker Pittsburgh forgot
Roger Jacoby was a fixture at Warhol’s Factory before moving to Pittsburgh, making one-of-a-kind films in his bathtub, and dying from AIDS at only 40. On November 9th, Pittsburgh Sound + Image and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust are bringing four of Jacoby’s films — on rarely seen 16mm prints — back where they were made.

Pittsburgh Opera presents an adulterous double feature
Pittsburgh Opera presents an adulterous double feature not seen here since 1996.
Jealousy, two-timing, and revenge unite the back-to-back tragedies of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci. Possessiveness, machismo, and rage fuel their bloody conclusions.
Enjoy two amazing operas on the same night. November 9th-17th.
