🌳 Buying More Than You Can Carry Can Help Pittsburgh Parks

Every time you buy a paper bag at a Pittsburgh Giant Eagle, a city park gets nice things. The Pittsburgh Park Conservancy collects 50% of the grocer’s paper bag fees, and in just one year, that revenue has funded new vehicles and equipment, community events, and an environmental education program for high school students. 🩺 Are Stronger Overdose-Reversal Drugs Helping or Hurting?

Harm reduction experts are warning that higher-dose naloxone products like Kloxxado can cause severe withdrawal symptoms in overdose victims, despite critical life-saving success. They allege that drug companies are exploiting a “more is better” approach for profit. A recent study by the CDC found that higher doses of naloxone did not increase the odds of surviving an overdose. So far this year, Pennsylvania’s health department has distributed more than 41,000 Kloxxado kits. [90.5 WESA]

  • Mayor Ed Gainey just introduced next year's draft budgets. Big changes include fewer police officers and more road paving, plus a few surprises. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]

Let’s play a game! Where in Pittsburgh can you find the Halloween-hued record display in the photo above? 👀

🌟 Congrats to Breen C., the only reader to correctly guessed the last “Where Is It?” challenge!

Look up! You never know what you’ll see. I spotted this “VOTE” sign in Garfield, next to Tasty Taquitos (one of my favorite taco spots in the city!). It’s right by street poles covered in art called the “Garfield Micro Gallery.” Take this as your reminder to do your civic duty next Tuesday!
