🚦35 new traffic lights in Downtown

October 8, 2024 · — Francesca Dabecco

Good morning, neighbor! The Steel City loves to revel in its history, but many of those stories are rooted in colonialism and the generations of immigration that followed. Why don’t we learn more about the Indigenous peoples who preceded them?

Ahead of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Oct. 14, the City Cast Pittsburgh podcast team is talking about whose land we’re actually on.

📬 Court Won’t Rule on Mail-In Ballot Issues

With early voting already underway, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court declined to take up cases and immediately rule on issues related to mail-in ballots — such as requiring voters to include an accurate, handwritten date on the return envelope.

  • ⚖️ Earlier this year, a state court ruled that rejecting a ballot because of the envelope is a violation of the state constitution, but the lawsuit was thrown out by the state Supreme Court on a technicality. [Associated Press]

Find these colorful lunch trays at Moonlit Burgers in Dormont 🍔

I recommend getting a side of jalapeno slaw and adding it to your smashburger. You can also find them in Uptown — it’s a great spot to grab a bite before a Penguins game. Many of yinz wrote in and called it the best burger spot in the Burgh!
