Pittsburgh Schools on the Chopping Block?
Ninety percent of public school buildings require substantial renovations, and only seven out of 59 are passable, according to a new evaluation. Hearings on school consolidations and closures will likely begin in September. [PublicSource / 90.5 WESA]

Downtown Shelter Shuttered Until November
Due to the extensive repairs needed after a fire in June, Second Avenue Commons residents likely won’t be able to move back into the low-barrier shelter until at least mid-November. Initially, the shelter will only accommodate 133 people when it reopens; the fire displaced more than 180. [90.5 WESA]
