Coal industry leaders met with state House Republicans in an unusual location recently: in a Greene County mine more than 1,000 feet underground. (Imagine three football fields stacked end to end.) Pittsburgh Loses Public Access Channel

After 38 years, Pittsburgh Community Television (PCTV) is closing following declines in cable subscriptions and funding from cable franchise agreements. The channel’s director wrote a letter explaining the decision to shutter operations rather than increasing user fees. PA Gun Laws Examined After Assasination Attempt

In response to the Butler rally shooting, gun safety advocates are calling attention to five pieces of legislation introduced last year that aim to strengthen background checks and raise minimum age requirements, among other things. The Butler gunman bought the rifle from his father in a private, legal sale, exempting him from the background check requirements of a licensed dealer. Gun rights advocates say the bills would “trample the Second Amendment rights of responsible gun owners.” [PublicSource]
