🏓 Pittsburgh’s largest pickleball facility

June 25, 2024 · — Adrian González

Good morning, friends! It’s your friendly neighborhood City Cast editor Adrian González.

I’m finally able to walk around (gingerly) after weeks of recovering from an injury, which means I can truly begin my summer. So, help me gallivant: What are you excited to do in Pittsburgh this summer? Bonus points if you have recommendations for accessible spots.

What's CITY Talking About?

Airport Security Intercepts 2 Grenades

TSA agents confiscated two grenades in two unrelated incidents at Pittsburgh International Airport last week. One of the grenades was a traditional “circular” style and found to be inept, but the second was a functioning grenade designed to release yellow smoke. [TribLIVE]

  • ⛔ The Pittsburgh airport set the record in 2023 for most guns confiscated by TSA: 44.

Dueling Lawsuits Over Sexual Assault Test Kits

The Pennsylvania Attorney General sued Pittsburgh-based Leda Health Corp. over its marketing of at-home test kits for sexual assault survivors, claiming they violate the state’s consumer protection laws and mislead consumers into thinking the test results are admissible in court. Leda filed a separate lawsuit against the New York District Attorney for similar claims, alleging that threats to shut down its test kits are a First Amendment issue. [Pennsylvania Capital-Star]

Pickleball Warehouse Coming to Homewood

Pittsburgh’s largest pickleball destination is hosting a soft opening this week. The 80,000-square-foot indoor facility will feature more than 15 courts, a pro shop, coffee bar, lounge, and future plans for an in-house kitchen and bar. Daily walk-in rates will be available, along with memberships and special tournaments. [TribLIVE]
