😎 7 ways to stay cool in Pittsburgh

June 24, 2024 · — Kevin Gavin

Happy news to start the week! The beloved 35-foot Heinz ketchup bottle will remain outside the Heinz History Center. The city zoning board ruled the iconic figure is a historical artifact, not a sign, so it doesn’t violate height limits for signs in the Strip District. The bottle was previously on display at Heinz Field, before it was renamed Acrisure Stadium.

🍅 Need more ketchup content? The City Cast Pittsburgh crew dipped into the dispute over the bottle (the museum's defense was SO good), and we even tried to find Heinz over other ketchups in a blind taste test. The results might surprise you!

PA's Progress Fixing Bridges

A new study from a national transportation nonprofit found Pennsylvania bridges have improved. In 2014, we were the worst in the nation; one-quarter of our state-owned bridges were rated as “poor.” That's since dropped to about 13% statewide, but there's a pretty big caveat. Divest from Israel? Lose State Money

New legislation would block funds for public colleges and universities if they boycott or financially divest from Israel over its war on Gaza. Sponsors say they’re responding to protests on college campuses.
