What's CITY Talking About?

Survey Says… We Need Better Care
Every two years, the state tries to assess health needs in PA’s LGBTQ+ community. Respondents from the most recent biennial survey said depression was the number one health issue. Access to welcoming care was also a high priority. [Lehigh Valley News]
- ✅ You can take the new survey if you identify as LGBTQ+, live in Pennsylvania, and are 13 years or older. It takes 25 minutes, and you could win $50. [PA Health Department]
Search Widens for New County Jail Warden
Advocates and jail guards want to help select a new warden. Allegheny County hired a Washington, D.C.-based firm to identify candidates and work with a search committee that includes County Executive Sara Innamorato. Critics say half of the committee members are county administrators, and corrections officers are not included. [90.5 WESA]
- ⚖️ Public input? Innamorato promised to include community voices in the hiring process. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
Crack Down on Deepfakes
The state Senate unanimously approved legislation to ban the distribution of salacious and pornographic computer-generated images that use artificial intelligence to seem real. States are updating laws to respond to the victimization of ordinary citizens, as well as celebrities, including Berks County native Taylor Swift. The legislation now goes to the PA House. Do You Have an Eye for Photography?
Even if you don't, Silver Eye Center for Photography wants your help developing new workshops. The nonprofit creates original exhibitions while supporting emerging and under-recognized artists. You can make suggestions by completing a short survey by June 15. [Silver Eye]
