🍅 Your guide to May in Pittsburgh
May 1, 2024 · Natalia Aldana
It’s May! Let’s celebrate: We made it to the new month 🤩
Pittsburgh may have just wrapped the 2024 NFL Draft, but now it’s on the shortlist to host the multi-day bonanza in 2026. The league sent scouts last year to size up the city’s potential. They’ll announce the winner in May, so stay tuned 👀 🏈

What's CITY Talking About?

Pittsburgh’s 1st Statue of a Woman of Color
A bronze sculpture titled “Flora,” at Highland Park’s entry garden is the newest addition to the city’s art collection. The sculpture, crafted by Pittsburgh artist Marlana Adele Vassar, aims to “provide symbols of progress and possibility,” she said. “The figure is a person coexisting with nature rather than trying to tame it.” [TribLIVE]
Debunked: Biden Was NOT Ignored at Sheetz
After Pennsylvania-native Joe Biden stopped at a Sheetz in Moon last month as part of his election tour, Fox News host Sean Hannity alleged on Facebook that the President was “ignored by virtually everyone.” Meta has flagged the post as false information. Videos and photos have since been shared of residents interacting with he and his team. [Poynter]

Kennywood Didn’t File Inspection Report
Park owners haven’t filed an inspection report this year, according to the state Department of Agriculture. Without it, we have even less information as to why the Steel Curtain ride may have closed, which the park announced just before opening day. [TribLIVE]
- What’s going on at Kennywood? On the podcast, we talked about the season pass holder suing over the Steel Curtain. Give it a listen. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
Bonus: Meet the City Cast Pittsburgh Team!
