What's CITY Talking About?

How Can You Track A Pittsburgh Bus?
Have you ever used an app like Ready2Ride, Transit, or TrueTime to track your bus, only to have it not show up? That’s called a ghost bus, and these errors happen because of traffic, road work, or staffing issues. To improve customer service, Pittsburgh Regional Transit is expanding hours where riders can reach a live person by phone or through a live chat. PRT is also hoping to improve tracker data by using “disruption management,” a technology that will send alerts to riders about late arrivals, ghost buses, and detours. [PublicSource]
- 🚌 Wondering why your bus is always late? We talked to CEO of Pittsburgh Regional Transit Katharine Kellerman to get your answer. [🎧 City Cast Pittsburgh]
NLRB Seeks Injunction Against the Post-Gazette
A year and a half into the strike at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the National Labor Relations Board authorized an injunction against management for dozens of ongoing unfair labor practices and violations of federal law. This means that a federal judge could potentially compel the company to pay for lost wages, end the strike, and go back to the bargaining table. [Pittsburgh Union Progress]
- 📣 Strike breakers! Democratic candidates Jack Stollsteimer and Keir Bradford-Gray apologized to their union supporters after giving interviews to a reporter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette while reporters are still on strike. The other three candidates honored their pledge to not talk to the P-G. [90.5 WESA]

Celebrate A Pittsburgh Radio Inventor’s 150th Birthday
Pittsburgh’s KDKA was a pioneer in radio broadcasting, and one of the inventors that created the technology — Frank Conrad — will soon get a spotlight at the National Museum of Broadcasting on the East End of Pittsburgh. The museum hopes to document the history of broadcasting, as well as teach students in recording studios. To help the project get off the ground, the museum is hosting a fundraiser on May 4 (Conrad’s birthday) at the Wilkinsburg Train Station. [Pittsburgh Magazine]
- 🎙️ Familiar voices & faces: The fundraiser will host a panel including WQED-FM’s Jim Cunningham, former KDKA morning host Jack Bogut, retired WTAE TV anchorwoman Sally Wiggin, and Bill Flanagan, host of WPXI-TV’s “Our Region’s Business.” Register here!
