Biden Talks Steel, Manufacturing in Pittsburgh

President Joe Biden stopped at the United Steelworkers union headquarters Downtown yesterday to talk about his proposals to increase tariffs on Chinese-made steel and champion the investments made in steel and manufacturing through a $1.2 trillion infrastructure law. [TribLIVE]

  • 🇺🇸 Biden says he wants to keep U.S. Steel here. Company shareholders approved the $14.1 billion sale to Japan’s Nippon Steel last week, but it was a formality. The sale still faces regulatory reviews and opposition from the United Steelworkers union and members of Congress. [Wall Street Journal]

Penguins Miss the Playoffs Again

The Pens were officially eliminated Tuesday from the Stanley Cup Playoffs race. In team captain Sidney Crosby’s 19-year career, he has never missed the playoffs twice in a row before — last year was the first time the Pens missed the playoffs since 2006. [KDKA-TV]

‘Sudden Little Thrills’ Comes to Hazelwood

The new two-day music festival will bring national and local acts to Hazelwood Green on September 7 and 8, including chart-topping R&B singer-songwriter SZA and rock band The Killers. Wiz Khalifa will do a hometown birthday set, and Pittsburgh-based artists like Girl Talk and Feeble Little Horse will take the stage.

How and Where to Forage Mushrooms in Pittsburgh

Pennsylvania is the No. 1 cultivator of mushrooms in the country, but you can also find all sorts of fungi foraging in the woods. Spring and summer are a great time to look for mushrooms, and Esperanzo Wilcox, founder of the PA Mushroom Company, is here to share his tips for finding and identifying a few more coveted edible delicacies.
