What's CITY Talking About?
Federal Forever Chemical Limits — Finally
Biden’s administration finalized strict limits on six “forever chemicals” — or PFAS — in drinking water this week. PFAS are linked to cancer, poor reproductive health, child developmental issues, and other health problems. These new limits will require utilities to reduce the chemicals to the “lowest level they can be reliably measured,” and officials say it will help prevent exposure to 100 million people. [Associated Press]
- 🚱 Only six? There are more than 12,000 known PFAS chemicals. The EPA calls this “a bold first step.” [NPR]
- 📈 Should PA be worried? A recent survey found PFAS are in 76% of Pennsylvania’s 161 rivers and streams. [WHYY]

‘Dawn of the Dead’ Anniversary Screening
George Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead” is getting a 45th anniversary re-release this weekend at the Harris Theater downtown and the Cinemark Monroeville Mall, just a parking lot away from where it was filmed. The movie premiered in Pittsburgh on April 12, 1979. [90.5 WESA]
- 📖 Read on: Local author Adam Charles Hart just released “Raising the Dead: The Work of George A. Romero,” a book that shares Romero writings that never made it to the big screen. [Pittsburgh City Paper]

Development Next to Uptown’s Tito House
Fifth Avenue and Colwell Street could get a 254-unit mixed development surrounding the historic Tito House. The Pittsburgh Planning Commission approved the 2.17-acre development with 6,600 square feet of retail; 152 parking spaces; 112 bike racks; and furnished studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. At least 5% of the units would be affordable housing. It still needs zoning approval. [TribLIVE]
