New Director of City Planning

Mayor Ed Gainey nominated Jamil Bey, founder and CEO of the Urbankind Institute, to oversee the city's master planning process, public art, zoning, design, and more. He'll replace Karen Abrams, who's leaving next month for The Chisholm Legacy Project. City Council is expected to consider Bey at its April 8 meeting. [90.5 WESA]

POGOH Plans To Expand

The POGOH bike share program is celebrating a milestone: hitting 1 million rides since its 2015 launch, buoyed by a record-breaking 211,000 rides in 2023. With increasing demand, Bike Share Pittsburgh announced an expansion, planning to add over 50 new stations across the city in the coming years. Funding for the expansion will come from multiple grants and partnerships.

24/7 Emergency Vet Opens in East Liberty

Veterinary Emergency Group opened its first Pittsburgh location, which will allow owners to stay overnight with their pet at no additional cost. The facility provides round-the-clock services, including surgeries, ultrasounds, and x-rays. [TribLive]
