Meet the Aviary’s Eagle-Owl Chick

Need a dose of cuteness? Check out these photos of the new Eurasian eagle-owl chick (about the size of a small lime) that recently hatched at the National Aviary. You can visit the Aviary’s Avian Care Center window to watch the chick as it develops and becomes fully grown over the next eight weeks. [TribLIVE]

Children’s Museum Employees Launch Union Campaign

In an effort to “improve health and safety conditions, increase transparency, and create better experiences for both museum workers and attendees,” employees at the Children’s Museum launched their union campaign with the United Steelworkers over the weekend. The United Steelworkers also represents more than 500 museum employees across all four Carnegie Museums. [90.5 WESA]

Renovated Carnegie Music Hall Reopens

After an eight-month, $9 million renovation project, the 129-year-old music hall inside of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History has been restored to its former glory — with modern perks like comfier seating and air conditioning. [Pittsburgh Magazine]

Help Mr. Roberto Project Buy Its Building

The DIY music venue Mr. Roboto Project and experimental art gallery Bunker Projects are fundraising to purchase their shared building at 5106 Penn Ave. in Garfield. Right now, they’re just a few thousand dollars away from their $50,000 goal. [Pittsburgh City Paper]
