What's CITY Talking About?

Steelers QB Signals Championship Hopes
The Steelers rebuilt its offense over the last week, dropping all three QBs and picking up two new faces. It now seems 35-year-old Russell Wilson — most recently of Denver — will be in the pocket this fall, with former Chicago Bear Justin Fields as backup. Analysts are crediting the team’s general manager, Omar Khan, but say we'll need even more new talent to make a difference for the postseason. [The Athletic, $$]
- 🏈 Who went where? Kenny Pickett was traded to Philly, Mason Rudolph signed with Tennessee, and Mitch Trubisky returned to Buffalo. [City Cast Pittsburgh]
- 🏆 Is Wilson ready? “I remember the towels. I remember ‘Renegade.’ I remember the whole thing.” Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, reminisced on his first game in Pittsburgh and how the deal got made. [The Athletic, $$]
The Dukes Can Go Dancing
It all came down to the final minutes Sunday, but for the first time since 1977, Duquesne University's men's basketball team has made the NCAA Tournament. The Dukes (24-11) will play their first-round game in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday as an 11th seed in the East; they'll face No. 6 seed BYU (23-10). [TribLive]
Riverhounds To Expand Highmark Stadium
Pittsburgh’s professional soccer team applied for a $10 million state grant to help triple its seating capacity at Highmark Stadium along the Monongahela River at Station Square. Officials want to boost fan attendance and eventually host other events, like concerts and car shows. The expansion would cost about $75 million. [TribLIVE]
- 🎸 Flashback! Yinz remember the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre that used to be there?
