💕 Our favorite romantic restaurants

February 2, 2024

Happy Friday… and Groundhog Day! 🎩 If you need tips for Valentine’s Day, we’ve got our favorite romantic restaurants below – plus some more treats on yesterday’s podcast.

Speaking of desserts… Do you have a recipe you’d like to share? 🍰 This weekend is the last chance to submit a recipe to "Seasoned with Solidarity," a cookbook for the Post-Gazette striking workers' fund. That’s right. Don’t forget that P-G workers are still on strike!

What's CITY Talking About?

1 Year Since East Palestine Derailment

Tomorrow marks a year since a Norfolk Southern train carrying vinyl chloride derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. The controlled burn days later caused thick chemical plumes to hover over the area, leading to lingering effects on the health of residents and the environment. President Biden is expected to visit the town soon. Residents expressed frustration because the Biden administration has not declared a federal disaster, which would unlocked additional federal funding. [Pittsburgh Union Progress / Associated Press]

Share Input on This Bus Station Redesign

Pittsburgh Regional Transit wants your feedback for a redesign of Herron Station at the intersection of Polish Hill, the Strip District, and Lower Lawrenceville. PRT is hoping this project will increase the visibility of this station along with improving access for pedestrians, cyclists, and those with mobility issues. [90.5 WESA]

  • 📣 Submit feedback on PRT’s website, or tune in to the final public meeting online on February 15.

New Challenge Added to Pittsburgh Marathon

DICK’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon will have new fitness challenges this year that test participants’ full-body endurance: the Air Force’s 72-foot inflatable obstacle course, the Army’s new recruit obstacles (like low crawl, pullups, and sled drag), tire flipping with the Air National Guard, and full-body weight workout zone with Oxford Athletic Club. Registration is now open. [NEXTpittsburgh]
