January 26, 2024
Happy Friday, neighbor! I LOVE finding ways to help you celebrate love in Pittsburgh. In case you missed it, here’s a roundup of Valentine's date ideas to do with partners or pals 💕
To go along with that, today I’m sharing some of the most drool-worthy sweet treats in town 🧁

What's CITY Talking About?
PRT Service Cuts Coming in February
About two dozen Pittsburgh Regional Bus routes – or 1.5% – will have reductions in frequency starting February 18. Plus, another 18 routes will shift to increase efficiency or avoid construction. Find out if yours is changing. [Pittsburgh Union Progress /WPXI]
Can Punxsutawney Phil Be Replaced?
The animal rights group PETA wants Punxsutawney to replace Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog with a gold coin on Groundhog Day — and let this naturally shy creature live out its life in its sanctuary at the local library. This isn’t the first time the group has advocated for a creative swap. [TribLIVE]

New Name for Pittsburgh Arts Org
Formerly the Pittsburgh Office for Public Art, the 20-year-old advocacy group will now be known as Shiftworks Community + Public Arts. The organization's mission is "catalyzing change through community-engaged artist projects in public space” — such as permanent installations, art residencies, and events. [Pittsburgh City Paper]
Pittsburgh To Get Electric Buses
Pennsylvania is getting more than $47 million in federal EPA funding to buy 100 zero-emission buses for five school districts in low-income communities — including Pittsburgh Public Schools. The money comes from the Clean School Bus Program. [KDKA-TV]
