Science Center Gets A New Name
If yinz don’t like change, brace yourselves: The Carnegie Science Center will be renamed the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Science Center following a $65 million donation from the family — which owns Kamin Realty, a commercial real estate firm. [NEXTpittsburgh]

Legislation Could Ease Burdens for Affordable Housing
Pittsburgh City Councilor Bobby Wilson introduced new legislation this week that would make it easier to build attached homes, like townhouses or row houses, on lots 35 square feet wide or smaller. The proposal will be reviewed by city planning before council takes a vote. [90.5 WESA]

Pitt’s Healthy Home Lab to Help Seniors
So much of Pittsburgh’s housing stock isn’t compatible with the needs of older folks or people with disabilities, but a Pitt program inside of a more than 100-year-old South Oakland house hopes to make it easier for people to age in place. The house is a real-life laboratory for developing new technologies — like a system called Mobius that can install grab bars, furniture, and exercise devices. [90.5 WESA]
