🌈 Pittsburgh Pride moves to Point State Park
January 18, 2024
Hey, neighbor! We’re all bummed about Adda closing, and you probably are, too. I’m on the City Cast Pittsburgh podcast today to talk with host Megan Harris about how the shop’s union is responding, plus other places to get your caffeine fix around town.

What's CITY Talking About?
Trans Protections Face Legal Challenge
A Trump-allied group is suing Pine-Richland School District over an official policy protecting students’ right to privacy while at school, including any changes to their gender expression, preferred pronouns, or a name that better aligns with their gender identity. In a complaint filed last week, attorneys with America First Legal say the policies violate parents’ ability to “make decisions concerning the care, custody, and control” of their children. Duquesne Opens A Medical College
Duquesne University will welcome its first class of around 85 students to its College of Osteopathic Medicine this July. Students will have the opportunity to learn in the virtual anatomy lab — called HoloAnatomy — with a high tech headset that can immerse you in a hologram of the human body. [TribLIVE]

What’s Going in the Lawrenceville Food Hall?
A building dating back to the 1890s will get a new life with five vendors in one spot, including Leona’s Ice Cream’s scoop shop (you know them for their cookie sandwiches), Dear James (a bar named after Lawrenceville’s namesake, Capt. James Lawrence), and Loaded (an American-fusion spot with Korean corn dogs and saucy fries). [NEXTpittsburgh]
