Innamorato Pledges $500k for Childcare

County executive Sara Innamorato is allocating the funds toward the Allegheny County Child Care Matters pilot program, which began in April 2022 with $5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. Families must meet the state’s subsidized child care income limits and requirements for work and/or school hours. [90.5 WESA]

New Steelers Exhibit in Football Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Steelers' first Super Bowl Championship with “A Legacy Forged In Black & Gold.” The exhibit opens January 20, and you can see it through February 19. This will be the first time that all six of the Steelers' Vince Lombardi Trophies and six Super Bowl rings will be under one roof. [Pro Football Hall of Fame]

Pgh’s Sports Usage Fee Ruled Unconstitutional

The Commonwealth Court agreed that Pittsburgh’s 3% tax on professional athletes and entertainers who play here is unconstitutional – holding up a 2022 ruling by a Common Pleas Judge. The Sports Facility Usage Fee, created in 2016, helped finance Acrisure Stadium, PPG Paints Arena, and PNC Park. [TribLIVE]
